Our History

Our Story

Canaan City Christian Academy Ltd began as a vision divinely inspired. The journey started when my husband, Mr. Kamboe Remy Affah, received a clear instruction in a dream—not to pursue further education, but to build a school that would transform lives. In obedience to this calling, he sacrificed his admission and, together with me, committed our little resources to this God-given mission.

On September 20th, 2011, Canaan City Christian Academy officially opened its doors with a single block, one pupil—our daughter, Kamboe Anyuyere Leah—and our first teacher, Madam Ali Victoria. Despite the humble beginning, and in the face of skepticism from relatives and community members who doubted a school with only one child, we held firmly to our faith that the vision would succeed.

Our breakthrough began with the enrollment of Aduko Tasha Nabilla, brought by her mother, Madam Aduko Pearl, a tutor at St. John Bosco’s College of Education. Soon after, our numbers grew steadily, and the school expanded from Creche to Nursery, Kindergarten, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and eventually Junior High School (JHS). Along the way, my husband sought mentorship from respected educators, including Madam Luguzuri Helen, fondly called “Mommy,” and drew inspiration from Pastor David Oyedepo, whose teachings influenced the name Canaan City Christian Academy. The addition of “Limited” followed our registration as a formal institution.

To fully dedicate ourselves to the growth of the academy, both my husband and I resigned from our teaching positions. With his entrepreneurial spirit—also known as a musician and a distributor of GreenFert Organic fertilizer—and my full commitment, we pushed the vision forward with determination.

The passing of my husband on March 8th, 2019, was a heartbreaking moment. Yet, through God’s grace, I assumed full leadership of the academy and continued the mission we started together. We faced difficult seasons, including a devastating flood that caused many students and staff to leave. Some teachers sought opportunities elsewhere, while others mocked the floodwaters as a “seasonal pool.” Even so, we persevered. The school recovered and grew stronger, eventually advancing to JHS 3.

In 2023, we presented our first batch of three BECE candidates, achieving results ranging from aggregate 19 to 22—a milestone that affirmed our progress and God’s favor.

We also established a vibrant Cadet Corps, guided, sponsored, and supported by Mr. Mahama Razak Jabaah, a friend based in the USA. Under the direction of Prophet Alfred Acheampong Afolendek, former Upper East Regional Cadet Coordinator, the cadet was formally registered.

Our growth has been made possible by the invaluable support of our stakeholders—especially our parents—who continue to bless the school with advice, library books, markers, TLMs, manila cards, and encouragement. We honor our longest-serving teacher, Madam Tuudale Christiana Katiga, and acknowledge our first PTI Chairman, Mr. Asigri Vincent. We also appreciate Madam Kamboe Anutua Judith, affectionately called Sister Judith, whose encouragement has been instrumental to our mission.

As a Christian academy, we remain committed to holistic development. Our students benefit from a variety of programs and clubs, including Bible Quizzes, Debating Club, Spelling Bee, Maths and Science Quiz, Drama Club, Sign Language, Morning Reading, Own Story Program, Career Day, African Union Day (AU), Choreography, and more. Each activity is designed to build confidence, character, and competence.

Today, Canaan City Christian Academy stands as living testimony to what faith, dedication, and perseverance can achieve. What began with one child, one block, and a God-given dream has grown into a thriving community shaping future leaders through Christ-centered education, discipline, and excellence.
